In this essay, I will tell you about the three reliable sources used by Financial Economics researchers in academia when finding the latest research on a topic of interest.

If you are considering pursuing graduate studies or staying abreast with the latest cutting-edge research in financial economics, these sources will help you find information on the latest research. This information will help one get a sense of trending financial and economic activity in society.

Unfortunately, it takes practice and guidance to zero in on one’s favourite research information sources.

Lack of familiarity with the financial academic is one of the primary reasons it takes time to identify the most reliable sources of information.

By following the research updates from these three sources, I no longer feel behind and stay abreast with the latest research in my fields of interest. You will be able to, only if you are interested in financial economics research:

#1. Social Science Research Network (SSRN)

This website is the largest repository of working papers and unpublished papers in social science. You can sign up for free and browse your topic of interest to your heart’s content.

#2. Google Scholar

Personally, this is my number -1 go-to source ahead of SSRN as it returns results from SSRN. Google Scholar indexes its search results based on citations and year, which helps find the most reliable research.

#3. National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER)

NBER is an American research organization that consists of top researchers from across the country. These researchers are usually at the forefront of research driving the community’s research agenda. Their website lists the latest research done by this group categorized by areas that helps understand the current state of research.
